Social dancing vs. competition dancing. There is an important word here--social. Learn to dance and fun, friends, and fitness is right around the corner. My current favorite dance partner will tell you that he recalls the time when I had many partners; the more the merrier! Young people, "middle people", and especially seniors love to have a dance partner so they can enjoy social dancing as a fabulous pastime. There are countless reasons why social ballroom dancing is the best way to learn.
Social dancing utilizes the "lead and follow" we learn when we learn the various dances; competition dancing consists of choreographed routines the dancers memorize. We have always loved "free style" dancing using the "lead and follow" technique because we can do what we want to when we want to in any order. Social dancing is just more fun!
