The Beautiful Christmas Dance

Wow! How beautiful all the table decorations were at the Black Tie Dinner Dance we attended for the Christmas season. It was great to be together with all of our long time friends we have met on the dance floor. As we all grow a bit older we treasure each moment we are blessed to be able to spend together. I must admit that getting all dressed up was, and of course always is, just one of the fun aspects of the formal dances.

We belong to a club and the band knows all the different types of music to play to allow us the opportunity to dance all the different dances we have learned. What fun! Oh, the waltz. My favorite! And then dancing swing to "In The Mood" which was a hit long before I was ever born but is a timeless classic with a fabulous swing beat. Cha cha, Mambo, Rumba, Tango, Samba -- all the other dances we love.

The beautiful and colorful lights and Christmas trees and visiting with dear friends between sets while the band was on break. What more could I ask for as a dedicated ballroom dancer?

Dancing With Friends

The other night we had such a great time at a dance we went to. We try to dance at least once a week now. Although several years back I was dancing six nights a week, well...my get up and go kinda got up and went when it comes to six nights, but that makes one night just that much more fun. I did the swing with Mac, the waltz with my husband, the samba with Allen, the cha cha with John, the fox trot with Max, Ray and Mac and the rumba with my husband and the rest I can't remember.

It certainly is good exercise though and I love the music. A beat that is danceable yet authentic. Sometimes that is a hard combination to find. There is a group of us now; we have all made friends and it is great to dance with everyone else too because everyone leads differently and has his favorite patterns. A number of the couples are married but there are quite a few who are not and just have fun dancing together AND with everyone else in the group. What I enjoy most I think is the social aspect. It is fabulous and we are so busy having fun there is never any time for negative talk, thinking or occurrences. I hope you are enjoying ballroom dancing too. bye for now.
